Nocturnes
The idea: drag a fingertip across any page and you leave a faint gold stroke in its margin. For you, it fades in twenty seconds. The other half of the idea is a page only I ever see, where every mark from every visitor is kept forever and coalesced once a night into one running palimpsest, ten thousand strangers writing in the same margin without ever meeting. That half needs its own small backend, an append-only database and a nightly job that has not been built yet, so it is not here. What is here, and really running: the fading stroke itself, live on every Estate page.
This tab, today
No marks yet. Go drag across the Home page, then come back here.
Where it works
Try it on Home, Writing, Inventions, Notes, or About: click and drag with a mouse. Not on a touch screen yet, a page-wide drawing gesture would fight the same drag you use to scroll a phone, so touch stays untouched rather than break that. It is also switched off inside Digital Brain and the Long Room, since both already use dragging to turn something in 3D.
The margin only I would see
That page needs an append-only Postgres table on the box and a nightly job that folds the day's marks into one image, a backend and a coordination decision, not something one build fire should provision on its own. So it stays named here, plainly, rather than faked.
